If I had some fish I wanted to get off my hands, would LFS consider taking them?

I realize it's up to the individual store, but is this done?

Thanks

Ermmmm i think they might, but i guess the main moral is that we should all be more thoughtful of the fish we buy. Even I've made a few mistakes, so yeah. Just call around

My LFS will take healthy fish but they will only give you store credit for them. Which is just fine with me. I am really lucky....they will also take your sick fish and put them in a hospital tank and treat them for you. I love that place and they are so great.
I would call around to the stores in your area and ask. Yes, it's done.

Since some places will give you store credits, etc. I would call around to find one of those. Depending on what you have, it might be worth the drive if you find a place

Generally your not getting cash unless your a breeder/wholesaler/importer.

Some stores will give you store credit, alot dont take fish at all.

I think it depends on what you are trying to get rid of.. Common guppies, platies, swordtails.. probably not, 100 other people try the same thing.
Now if you had rarer fish, then yes. Rare live bearers, bettas or even some cichlids, such as rams/dwarf cichlids, many shops may pick them out, unless they are too odd for the casual buyer.

most of the time yes, but a lot of stores only give you credit. also, dont expect to much for the fish, as tricksterpup said. my LFS was only willing to give me 12 cents for the swordtails that i raise  (oh well, i wasnt expecting much)

I've got some platies I need to do something with.

I guess I could just feed them to my gars and rock bass.

my LFS will take healthy fish but won't even give you store credit for them.
