I just purchased 5 mystery snails for my two established tanks (20gal and 16gal). The snails will be coming by mail today or tomorrow. How do I introduce them to my tanks? Do I need to acclimate them as I do fish? Can I just put them in?

Thanks for any advice.

Sorry! I've never bumped before and it feels almost rude  But I really need to know how to introduce these guys! I read alot of info but can't seem to find this...
Can anybody help out?
Thank you!

Mine came in a bag with fish, so I acclimated them by default. It'd probably be more fool-proof if you give them a brief acclimatisation process. It's easiest to just use the drip method by taking a short length of airline tubing to siphon water from the tank to the holding container. You tie a regular old knot in the middle to adjust the flow; tighter = less flow, looser = more flow.

I see nothing wrong with you bumping your post since no one answered it quickly and your snails will soon be here:)

PS - My mystery snails, Herbie I and Herbie II ( ) LOVED bloodworms. I would feed them while I tube fed my frogs.

I acclimate my snails exactly as I do my new fish. Hang the bag and add water every 10 minutes for 30 minutes and then I just grab them out of the bag and drop them in.

Isn't there a concern with livestock that have been in bags for extended periods that the ammonia that builds up turns toxic as soon as the bag is opened? Can't remember specifics, but I think when recieving fish by mail you net them right in as no acclimation is better than sitting in shipping water filled with ammonia. Add "acclimating Shipped mystery snails" to title and see if rtr or one of the other big guns speaks up.
