What's This on my Live Rock?

I just moved around some Live Rock today and I noticed these small, round, red/purple things. They have a hole in them, and I noticed one kind of open up as if it was breathing or something. Check out the pics below, click on them to enlarge them. I really new to this stuff so have no idea what I have here.

The pics don't really show them well, but hopefully along with my description someone will be able to tell me what they are.
 
It is a little hard to tell from the pics...I often find little clams and barnacles on my live rock...is the opening more like a slit or a hole with little feathery protusions? Are they hard or soft? Are they stationary? Can you get a closer shot? What is the capital of Assyria? Ooops..scratch the last question...only minimally relevant....hehe..anyway, tells us more!

The opening looks to me more like a hold, and I havent touched it, bit it seems like it would be soft. I beleive its stationary as I haven't seen it move yet. I will try and get a closer shot if I can. My camera work sucks.
 
So much for that.. Looks like my hermit crab climbed up there and ate whatever it was.. Is this a problem? When you have cool things starting to grow on your live rock, and your stuff eats it?
 
Could be a mushroom. I have a few of them that grew out of mine. Feather dusters also. Will it expand out the rock or not? You better watch out it could also be apstasia.

What is apstasia? Anyhow my hermit crab ate the big one, and there is still the smaller one there. It would be cool if it were a featheer duster and it actually survied and grew full size.. I can only hope.
 
aptasia, good question. Its a weed you can't get rid of. Well, I can't get rid of mine because it keeps coming back. They tell you to use a paste made up of kalkwasser and water. Or to get a peppermint shrimp to take care of it.
