My corycat julii has a white cyst on its nose. The size of this cyst look-a-like is about 1mm in diameter. I need help to determine the cause of this problem and the remedies. The water parameters are: Amonia is less than
.30, Nitrite is 0, Nitrate is 20. The tank is going through a mini cycle and just put in Bio-Spira on Wednesday night. Please help. Thank you in advance.

Possibly a bacterial or fungal infection. Keep the water very clean and raise the temperature to the high 80s and the fish may heal by itself. You can also try fungal and bacterial medication. Salt isn't recommended because cories can be sensitive to salt treatment.

dunno about the cyst but ammonia should be 0 or unreadable on a test kit.

Its not ich is it? Do a search for that, to see if that is what it looks like

Thanks for all the replies.

I don't think it's ich because this cyst is like a small milky white ball about 1mm diameter instead of a white dot.

The mini-cycle triggered when I added a school of tetras last weekend. I think the fish load is more than the existing bacteria can handle.
