over a year ago, when I was just beginning I took some bad advice from a "fish guy" who was an absolute idiot and caused me to use copper in my tank for an emergency sick fish. Well, my live rock didn't like that too much to say the least so I have very little purple in my tank. I've since addes several small to medium pieces of live rock covered in order to re-seed my tank. It coming along but not nearly fast enough. I also had a sump bust on me and while pulling all the fish and liverock in order to replace the sump I lost almost all of my pods and worms that I used to see in the rock. (luckily no fish or inverts died, I can't believe it)

I'm looking for a source to replinish my pods and hopefully seed some purple coraline algea, I have some green corraline that grows on the tank and I've seen a few patches of purple but nowhere near the speed of our good tank at work.

I also have a problem keeping my alkalinity in check. Any ideas? I add the alkalinity buffer, my PH is on point and so is my Calcium. I was using the Alk buffer and Purple up and my calcium got a bit hight due to the calcium that is in the salt used to make the saltwater at the LFS. Thanks guys.

Don't stress about coraline alage, I don't know what the fuss is, its just an encrusting algae. I don't think adding rocks that have it on there will help to "seed" your tank. You need a certian light and constant calcium levels to get coraline algae to grow... give it time. As for the pods, if you put copper in your tank your going to have copper in your rocks. No matter what you do you'll stilll have SOME trace amount of copper. It shouldn't keep you from having pods but it might take awhile for the population to build back up.

I totally agree with memphis, I'd just like to add that you can buy pods online. If you look on ebay they have them for fairly cheap. Im not sure the quality but I'd look into the seller score and base my trust on that... Another suggestion if you do go that route, maybe it would be a good idea to check them out in a small tank first before releasing them to your general population. I've heard that if you sneak in at night with a flash light you will be able to see them on the glass etc...

This stuff is just my theory, and I'm really new to this, so check this info with the pro's here and make a decision from that...
