What types of things should, or can I have in the tank while it's cycling? I am talking about things like snails, cleaner shrimp, live rock etc.. Is it best to leave the tank totally empty, or should I add some cleaner crew?

Also how does everyone feel about using the product Cycle while cycling their tank.

Cycle never did anything for me. I would not add livestock until the cycle is over. Not really nice to dump animals in a tank with high ammonia.

Here is a quote from someone on another board.

I add some Black mollies. at least then you get some fish to watch.
they are neat and can live in salt water, just don't throw them directly in to the salt water from ther fresh water.
put them in a bucket and add salt slowly, over a hour then add them to your tank
feed them like you would feed a fish, (OR whenever your board, because they will always eat.)
Once they start eating they will start pooing and your cycle will begin.
then take them back to the store, or feed them one at a time to your carpet anemone.

Would you suggest getting the Black Mollies?

Just a normal cycle I guess.. 55G tank, 20lbs sand, 20lbs aragonite, some base rock and a small peice of live rock. Salinity is good, and I have added the suggested amount of Cycle. I have decent flow going, and just hooked up my protein skimmer. I have no air going to it right now, and just using it for water flow, as there probably wont be any protein in the tank for awhile.

Been cycling for about a week or so. When should I test the levels for the first time, and how often should I do a water change during the cycle, and how much of a change?

You need to feed the bacteria to get them going. Small piece of rotting seafood is good.

You might check the ammonia now, but without much of a source, you may not see any.
