Is there another type or brand of sand that i can use insted of southdown. I visited my local hd but all they had was a quickrete play sand. Thanks for the help.

I know you're just trying to get a wide range of responses, but please post each thread in just one forum. Most of us check all the forums, and it's just easier if we only need to read/respond in one forum. Thanks!

Any fine grained sand will work. You want very small grains--sugar or smaller. Blasting sands or playsands are usually better than the concrete mixes.

Check out http://www.purearagonite.com. Great alternative, just a little more expensive.

That's a lot more expensive...The play sands are only about $5/100lbs, and you don't pay shipping. I agree it's a good alternative, but not worth the expense IMO.
