Hi ,
I went out and bought a Brand New Rena Filstar XP3 for my newly Aquired 75 Gallon :dance2: Tank from the Local LFS. I notice some clear sticky grease (like clear petroleum Jelly) on the under side of the Quick Disconnect Valve.
Its confined to the locking levers rotating Mechanism.

Seems very suspicious on a new product .
Am I Just paranoid? is this normal? .......or did I just buy a Returned product. :mad2:

filstar owners please respond :hang:

I didn't notice any on mine, but I haven't really checked. If it worries you tat much, return it :dive:

Thanks for the quick reply Xeilos.
If the grease is normal I don't mind keeping the filter, specially with all the great reviews it has here on Aquaria central and else where, but if the Quick Disconnect valve is a returned defective piece that was exchange by the LFS from another box then I don't want to find out the hard way......all the more if it works I don,t know if that stuff is good for the fish!!!.....paranoid :o

anybody?

the grease is there to prevent leaks, is it on some sort of seal or o-ring?

just reread the post. did the box look new and unopened? i think it might be there to help the valves turn.
