I just bought a new plant about a week ago and planted it with the foam that was around the roots. Should I leave the foam or dig it up and through it out? I keeped it because I wasn't sure about how well developed the roots were and if they needed it or not. I don't want it to collect food and waste particles though. so what should I do?
Thanks a million! :dance2:

What kind of plant is it and what substrate are you using?

In general, you'd want to throw away the rockwool because it contains alot of nutrients that can cause algae problems should it leech into the water. However, if your plant is a heavy root feeder and you are using a substrate that is poor for plants, like sand or large gravel, then leaving it in might be a better option.

Then proably taking it off would be better, the plant will be fine and you don't want to risk and algae bloom.

if you dont take it off it can sorta act as filter media and you can dump it in a new tank for cycling.
