I have a 40g tank in my piercing station at work. I want to start keeping odd fish there. Like I would love to find a freshy stingray. any good sites out there? :look: :pc:

Your tank is not big enough for most true oddballs, but some nice fish you may want to think about are loaches like kului loaches, clown loaches( clowns will get too big for your tank but it takes a long time), Rope fish are cool, you could get a smaller puffer species( not with the other fish mentioned) You could also set up a frog/newt tank which would be neat.

The stingray will need a much bigger tank(dimension wise), most likely a "breeder" or a custom tank with a larger footprint. The gallons are not as big an issue as swimming room. Even a 55 gallon standard will only be 12" front to back, and is still too small for a FW ray.

as a body-mod addict once upon a time, i'll say straight out that i would never get pierced by anyone who has a fishtank within 30 feet of the chair, the supplies, or the autoclave room. the filtration will send out airborne particles constantly, and i'd rather not have fish-water vapor in my new holes. animals do not belong near open wounds, esp. puncture wounds. too easy for bacteria to get trapped in there and cause problems, esp. for people who are less than perfect about aftercare.

I recently set up a tank for an arrowhead puffer. Very curious fish with a face only a mother could (maybe) love.
