Aquacultured gulf rock is very nice. It typically carries much more life than Pacific rock. The downside is that it tends to be more dense, so the same weight of rock takes up less space in the tank. Gulf rock also doesn't tend to have the diversity of shape that Pacific rock displays. However, the proximity, low cost, and especially the diversity of life that it brings usually justifies going for it.
