I currently have my diy co2 bubble tube going into the bottom of my A/C intake tube.Does this do an adequate job of mixing the co2 into the water or should i be doing something different?I have searched tons and cant find a good example of how to build a reactor. Some say an old gravel vac or small plastic bottle but i need more info to creat one.Thanks. :bowing:

It really depends on how much work you want to do do. Since you have an AC filter, chuck's reactor will work great. Also, what is your CO2 PPM?? If it aint broke - why fix it. I plan on injecting CO2 through my AC 20 for my 5.5 (when I get there). Since it is such a small tank - I am not worried to much about effeciency. Plus I want as little mechanics in my 5.5 so I can see only aquascaping.

I built an external reactor for my 30G for about $15 and 1 hour of time, but I have a canister filter. This same reactor can be had for about $60 online. This will show you the $$$$ saved by DIY.

Further, there are many "retail" reactors available but they all do the same thing as Chucks reactor - so I say build your own and you can be assured of the quality (or for me - lack of quality  ).

Depending on the size of the tank - I would stay put myself.

Good Luck

The short answer is no, it doesn't do an adequate job. Although as Aries points out, it may for a smaller tank...what size is yours?

Here is mine that is basically the same as Chucks...

...using a seachem bottle with the bottom cut out. 'Course I cracked it when cleaning while ago so now I have a hydrogen peroxide bottle (mmmm, yummy brown color - anyone have empty seachem bottles???).

If you ever get over to my place, you can see an external reactor built out of pvc and if you like it, you might just leave with it! Oh yeah, I'm suppose to call you! :duh:

hey bill, thanks i still need to get some more plants and give some cherry shrimp a try.I did'nt think i was seeing the dramatic results everyone spoke of in regards to co2 injection. My tank is a 45t with 130wcf.
