There's got to be someone who can answer my question. What kind of fish is this? This is not a very good picture so i'll go take some new ones tommorrow. FYI, i gaught this one in a local river.

You cought it in a river in hawaii? Have you talked to local fisherman or game wardens? Is it native?

When i caught this fish it was about 3", but now it's about 7". It's actully starting to catch up to my Oscar which is 11" in only half the time.
No it's not native to this island. These fish actully got introduced into our local streams from near by hotels during large rain storms. They actully aren't very common because the water temp. here is to cold, but sometimes i see them around. I guess some of them just adjust and the rest don't because when it rain, alot of them get out. The fish i have is a very hardy fish so i wouldn't be surprised if some of them would survive the water temp. change.

Could it be an orange chromide?
Myself, I haven't seen the larger than the young one in the link below, but your body shape and color appear right. If you don't get a positive id here, try the brackish group. Chromides are naturally brackish.
