Click here to see the fish! (http://www.stjinks.com/album.php?category=13#256)

My friend was given 2 of these fish a while back. The pictures are of the larger of the two. It is about 7-8 inches long and we can't tell what it is. I am pretty sure it is some kind of african cichlid as it has egg spots and as far as I know africans are the only cichlids with that feature.
Anyways, I figured someone on here could help us out! :)
Thanks!

It defenitly looks like an African. Hard to tell what type. Are the black stripes always so bold? Does it show any other color? I noticed the little one in the back has red on it's face. Do you have any other pic's of it?

I have some Lake Malawi Africans that are normally yellow bodied with blue faces and red fins with the black stripes. The black stripe become very bold when they are agitated, or whats called flashing. I will try and find some pictures.

Hogie.. the red faced fish in the back are a pair of jewel cichlids.

As for your questions about the unknown fish, the black stripes are always that bold. Actually it is more like it is black with colored stripes! Also the stripes are usually more yellow or bluey.

Thank you for your help :)

Ps crabro are a very interesting fish,in the lake(malawi) they clean a big catfish(Bargus meridionalis) of parasites, and stay whith (around)them, when the catfish breeds they also get some eggs and juv.if they canī,(big gardian),this fish can you find all around the lake, they like rocky areas(caves).
