I am planning a 15 Gallon Tall (basically a standard 10 gallon, but taller) office aquarium, but this isn't a popular size and I have not found it locally. Glasscages.com can ship me an acrylic one, or a DIY glass kit. Can anyone tell me if the prolific All-Glass or Perfecto canopies, like the All-Glass Versatop will fit the GlassCages.com aquaria?

I asked them, and they couldn't tell me, and said that most customers have them cut a piece of acrylic for the top. I'll consider that, too, but it would be nice to have a canopy with some kind of door to feed the fish and do a little maintenance without having to remove the top altogether.

Anybody have one of these canopies on their "glass cage?"

WHAT!?! They couldn't (I should say wouldn't) tell you if all-glass or perfecto top would fit? *cough*Bull....*cough*. THAT is the type of thing that stears me away from a company! C'mon, it isn't that hard to get the dimensions of either top (I'm too busy ranting atm to do it right now!) and they don't know the inside dimensions of the the frame?????? *cough*Bull....*cough*
If you have them cut the acrylic for you, have them cut it in half (or 2/3 and 1/3) too so you can add your own plastic hinge.
And I thought they were a decent company :mad2:
If you email all-glass or perfecto (or even a company that sell the tops, i.e. bigalsonline.com, or drsfostersmith.com) I'll bet they'd get the dimensions for you.

I was looking at them since I've seen people say positive things about them here before. I figured I might be able to get a good aquarium for what it would cost me at a local shop to order.

From their e-mail, "I don't know if other tops will fit our tanks." After, "Most customers get or have us supply an acrylic sheet to go over the top of the aquarium . The acrylic lid can then be cut out for a filter - heater - etc. This single piece of acrylic costs $5.00."

Might not still be a bad solution. I intend to put a Coralife light on legs above the aquarium, so the light's not sitting directly on the top, so the top will be easy to lift for feeding, etc. (provided the light legs don't interfere.)

most likely wont fit, their tanks are made acrylic tank style. it doesnt just have the trim on top but the entire top is enclosed with just a smaller opening for lights. thats why most people just get a piece of glass to cover that opening.

Thanks for the responses. It's kind of moot now anyway - an LFS had a used 18 Extra Tall (same footprint as a 10 or 15 Tall), so I picked up for about half what a new one would cost me. Except being dirty, it was in excellent shape. It's at home full of water testing for leaks, but so far, so good.

I think the sticker said it was an "Ocean View." I tried Perfecto and All-Glass hoods on it in the store. All-Glass fit perfectly. Perfectos were a little short front-to-back - the hood would be supported by the frame on the sides but only the front or back, but not both. Which is good since I already ordered an All-Glass top for it.
