hi everibody. i just replaced my lights in my 55g tank . i used to have 4*55w pc. well i just got 4*96w retro. I was wonderinf if that would be enough light for some sps like Acropora Coral, Stylophora Coral. or some monti caps or Montipora .well i think that its now about 380w in my tank and im putting out about 6.98w per gallon so i would be good. well i mught be wrong so i would like some of you more experienced aquarist out there to let me know before make a mistake

Im not sure, but ive heard MH are your best bet for SPS corals as the penetrate much more then PC or even T5 lighting.

Do some research on the net on lighting for SPS corals.

I've been mulling it over. I have had very good growth with several montipora species, including capricornis and digitata, under PC lights, but have never tried acropora or stylopora without metal halides. Nor do I remember any of the local reefers doing it. Doesn't mean it won't work.
