I just noticed 5 small snails eating away at the little bit of algae on my glass. They probably hitched a ride in on one of my plants which I did not treat in alum. I've read that these snails are very great at breading. Should I be alarmed about my plants possibly becomming a food source or will they continue to feed on algae and other detritus in the tank? I don't own any clown loaches or other snail eaters since the tank is only a 29 gallon. Pretty much this tank is a moderately high light tank with CO2 injection and has about 65% of the substrate covered in plants.

If they were hitchhikers then I would guess that they are either common pond or ramshorn snails (possibly MTS), none of which are cause for alarm. I have both pond snails and MTS in my tanks, and they are not a problem at all. I actually like having them in my tanks for biodiversity. I even have worms in my substrate, which I don't hear about often but I think it's great having them!
