After seeing the kid, the fish tank and weights in that video, it reminded me of something stupid I did as a kid. I had a nice 10g fish tank in my room. With 6 fish and some live plants in it. My older brother and I (who always used to fight) were arguing. He came into my room and threw an Arubix Cube at me and hit me in the head. I picked it up and threw it back at him, (he was standing in my doorway) but I missed and hit my fish tank. All my fish and plants spilled out onto the floor. MOst of them died a few days later. I felt so bad, (and still do) for them. Just wondering, honestly now. Has anyone else done something stupid like that?

Fortunately, I havent.

I remember my neighborgs had a tank, 10 to 15 gallons probably. One day, my older brother was playing in their house and the kid (of that family) took of the lid and threw it inside the tank. Fish stew for the family and big blackout for the neighborghood.

sheesh.... my worst was keeping 3 comets in a 10 gallon for a couple of years.... I was 10 at the time..... and when they died... the tank was cleaned out and housed guppies... not really sure what happened to the tank.

A few years back, my rather mentally unstable sister took it upon herself to toss a 7 or 8 inch butchers knife at me, I got out of the way and a 10 gallon hex took the blow. Basically shattered the entire front of the tank and the fish were all just flopping around on the substrate and in the sink (tank was set up right behind the kitchen sink.

I was quite young at the time (12 or 13) and hadn't really become interested in fish on my own, just admired my mum's. I didn't know what the hell to do so I picked up the fish by hand and tossed all the fish in drinking glasses. Only thing that survived was a iridecent shark (who I now know shouldn't have been in there in the first place, right now he's in a 55 and ultra cramped and I'm trying to get rid of him (took me 2 years of telling my mum that he really doesn't belong in there to get her to admit it and give me permission to get rid of him).

Yeah, projectiles and fish tanks don't mix. I actually have that as a posted rule in my room where I have 55 gallon mbuna take... Sharing the experience of many people on this board, drunk people and fish tanks don't mix either... and drunk people with projectiles and a fish tank... much much worse

Even worse if the drunk person is your sister.
:joke:

I had kind of an interesting story a couple months ago. We were moving from a house in saskatchewan. A friend was helping me move a 87g tank. We had put the fish(mostly cichlids, pleco's, ect.) in a 5gallon pail. While we were carrying the tank. We set it on a couple of boxes(don't know why?) to open a couple doors. When we went to get the tank to carry it out and when my friend grabbed a side i guess the weight shifted or something and the bottom glass of the tank basically shattered and it fell through the boxes. I would have not thought this would have been real bad, but then when the tank hit the cement the tank sides got a bunch of small cracks. Well that really sucked, but to make matters worse when the pail was being carried out, the handle broke off and fish went all over the street. With the way this day was going i was wondering what would happen next. Turns out the motor in my bronco blew up two days later. Good old fords. Thankfully i had a relibly chev to get me on the road. As for the fish, they were placed in another 87g tank, i ended up losing one convict. But the rest seem to be doing fine know.

Stoned people do OK with tanks though... just sit and stare... "Wow man, those are some cool fish man..."

I am surprised that more people aren't injured in broken tank accidents (although the glass is pretty strong). That's alot of pressure behind broken glass, especially in a big tank.

I have quite a few fish tank and kids stories! Many years ago when I only had some feeder goldfish as pets my little brother decided to add shampoo and chalk dust to the tank for who knows what reason! Needless to say my 3 year old feeder Goldies died. My Father also got mad once and threw a cup out of the bathroom which then hit the fish tank. It was just a ten gallon, so it wasn't a huge loss. My mother when she was young was being chased by her brother and ran head long into a fish tank and had to get stitches. My family just has a bad history with fish tanks!

You don't want me to tell the hamster stories! I honestly haven't lost a fish tank in years. I think the last one we lost was the one with the cup incident and that was many years ago.
