How can you tell the difference in the sex of these fish. I am looking to get a pair of these fish to bread in my tank. The LFS only has two of them left. They are both whitish/yellow with red markings on the dorsal fins. Are these both males/females. I would like to know how to tell the difference in these fish. They are beutiful fish and would like to get a pair to breed. Thanks

Look for a pinkish belly (this is exhibited at breeding time). The coloration in this area is not nearly as obvious as it is with the German ram. The orangish color just behind head and gill plates is not as intense in females as it is with males are usually a little bigger. And, several of the front rays of the dorsal fin are typically longer on the male. The difference in the tail is something many people reference. i have never been able to notice this trait. Probably due to farm bred nature.

Here is a link so you can see the area of color I am talking about. It is a male.

Well, you could wait until the lfs gets in another shipment and there are plenty to choose from. You could go by size and color to help give you a better chance of picking a male and female. If you take those two you have a lesser chance of getting one of each.
