What size tank would I need If I were to have these fish:
-Naso Trigger(maybe too aggressive, unsure)
-Snowflake Eel
-Powder Blue Tang
-Panther Grouper
-semi-aggressive puffer (don't know which)
-yellow wrasse
-common lionfish

I know this is alot of fish. But Im curious at the size aquarium I would need. If I got them all fairly small, how fast would they grow and for what size tank...
for example, if most of them started from 1-3", could they stay in a 55 gal for 6 months, ect.? Thanks alot, I've spent alot of time on this forum, but most of my time has gone to researching nano tanks/fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Firstly, i think you will have some aggretion problems there, lionfish can swallow fish twice the size as them, that means your PBT and wrasse might become lunch. Also even if you bought a powder blue tang at 3 inches the minimum sized aquarium for 1 of them is 75 gallons. for all them fish to live happily without causing trouble, i would think you will need 1 big aquarium. since them lionfish can get 30 cm long, i think something in the size of 8 foot long x 2 foot wide x 2 foot high.

As long as the other fish are too big to swallow they should be fine with lion fish.

I see the lionfish being in trouble, though they are predators, they are slow swimming and ambush predators. Most other fish will nip at the fins of the lion and generally harrass it. The trigger could make short work of the wrasse if given a chance, but this depends on sizes.

A 180 or bigger would be needed in my opinion.

Ultimatly for all those you would need almost a 300gl for thier adult size, also the biggest lionfish which are volitans are common, but get to be 15", which is basically a basket ball floating in the aquarium.

Lionfish would be better in a species tank, or with the eel, a large tank with 3 lions can have a great effect and would be great. Also, just a thought, if you are up to it i have seen cuttlefish in tanks with morays, lions, and boxfish, although they are hard to keep they are pretty cool IMO. Try searching on some site to see what fish will go with what.

500+ Gallons. Don't Pather Groupers get over 18"? You need over a 200 for just the panther really.

I currently have several of the fish you are talkn about. I have a lion,Huma Trigger, LG snowflake, yellow tang and red coral wrasse. I keep these guys in a 120 long. I plan on adding a puffer but have been unsucessfull with two so far

i say between a 180-a 210. a 210 would probably be better, though will good filtration, you could get away with a 180.
and Volitains get to be between 15-20 inches, not 30. And although they have large mouths, they dont eat things twice their size. They are also pretty slow moving so as long as you keep him well fed, you probably wont have a problem with him eating everything else.
once the panther grouper gets large, then you ay have trouble with the wrasse depending ont he species, but like a lionfish, they are ambush predetors so it isnt like he is going to run aroudn chasing it.
so i would vote for a 210.

A good 250+....that panther could easily hit 26"-28", and is going to need plenty of room just himself.
