hey everyone,

i'm just wondering if there's any thing like a dwerf bichir? If not, what's the smallest species?

i've been looking online with no luck.

thanks a bunch.

Pretty sure the smallest is the Senegal..maxes out at 12 inches tho i hear 10 inches is the usual.

ah so all are about 12'' or more. Well there goes my plan to keep a smaller tank for them. lol Guess i'll hafta wait until im out of school and have room for a 55+ tank.

alright, thanks alot guys :D

The smallest naturally occuring species would be p. retropinnis, maxing out at ~10". But palmas polli are often labelled incorrectly as retros, so most likely, in order to get a true p. retropinnis you'll have to order through someone like Toyin at rehoboth aquatics

That said, there are "short body" variants, that stay significantly smaller than normal ones. To me they are fugly and should be culled, but they have gained popularity in asia.

My thoughts exactly Spartan, lol.

Another question he might think of later and I've often wondered..How thick will they get around?
