What are the dimensions of a typical 55 gal tank?

I thought I had a 55 gal tank, untill tonight when i measured it and then calculated that it was only a 45 gal tank. The dimensions of my tank are
4 feet*1 foot*1.5 feet, does that sound like it is a 45 gal tank or a 55 gal tank?
