My first Royal pleco. Just added a Royal Pleco and Bristlenose Pleco to my 120 gallon tank with a minor algae problem. They are both about the same size and have done a great job on the algae in just 2 days. Even the brown fuzzy algae.

I knew that Bristlenose plecos do great jobs at eating algae but was a little surprised about the Royal chomping away. Does the Royal have any specific diet or care needs that I should know about? I hear they like driftwood, true? Can anyone provide links for info?

Royals are just about guarenteed to die in a system without Driftwood. I would definetly add some asap.

Congrats on your new plecos! The royals are definately one of my favourite. Yes its true that they need wood as part of their diet. Other than the usual algae wagers or veges, you can feed them meaty stuffs like frozen bloodworms. My royal loves it!
