Are there any fish that are South American in origin that eat snails? I have a SA 20 gallon (3 Albino Corys, 6 Pristella Tetras, 2 bristlenose? plecos) that has a snail problem that seems to be getting out of hand.

My Asian tank (4 YoYo Loaches, 10 tiger barbs) doesn't have this problem, and I am fairly sure it is because of my loaches.

Is there a SA equivalent to loaches?

Thanks.

South American Puffers (Colomesus asellus (http://puffernet.tripod.com/asellus.html)), although you will need to continue feeding snails when they eat all the snails already in the tank. thie link above mentions freshwater to light brackish, but these fish are fine in completely freshwater. and unlike most other puffers, these guys are pretty peaceful. I think they would do fine with your existing tankmates although you may find it a little cramped in the long run.
