What do people think of Pictus Cats? Are they good for a community tank? should there be more than one?

They are good for a community tank as long as all the fish are big enough that they won't get eaten. Pictus Cats have huge mouths.
I believe that they like to be in a group w/ other pictus cats, but I'm not totally sure.
cool looking fish fine for a community tank and 2 or more is good

other fish to stay away from for your community tank would be tiger barbs. This is one fish you will really enjoy watching at feeding time because their bellies can sometimes look like they swallowed a marble.

I have kept them single and in pairs, I haven't seen a lot of difference in behavior once they reached adulthood. the juveniles do tend to prefer company though. And Yes they are fine in a community tank if you don't want to keep anything small. Their mouths are usually about a third the size of their bodies. they will eat snails, shrimp, and small fish at any opportunity.

HUH?
Which fish are you addressing, the TB's or PC's?
Yes, the PC's will eat untiltheir bellies swell, but you'd be overfeeding at that point, not good for the PC.
TB's can be excellent community tankmates!
Their notorious reputation as fin-nipping terrorist is undeserved, though they will still nip sometimes when properly kept, but so will most fish.
They get their bad rep because soooo many people do not keep them in a large enough school, in a small grouping of 5 or less fish they do indeed become holy terrors!
TB's need to be kept in shoals/schools of atleast 6-8+ fish, preferably more as the more there are the more infatiuated they are with maintaining their own pecking order/hierarchy and leave other fish alone.
Kept this way they are great community fish and hilarious to watch as they nitpick amongst themselves.

The fish I was talking about whose stomach would look like they swallowed a marble was the Pictus cat. I have kept tiger barbs before and they are great fish to keep. I kept five of the green tiger barbs, five of the albino tiger barbs, and five of the regular tiger barbs in one tank and it really made them look good when they school together.
