At the LFS I work at we got in the covited (by me anyway) emperors and I purchased three of them... Im not talking about the kerri tetra or the other one that is commonly sold as emperors, Im talking about the real mekoy. They are beautiful and once they color up in my tank and what not, I'll post some pictures. Anybody else have any? if so give some tips

LOL I think we have the same taste in fish. I picked up 7 small emperor tetras to go with my congos... they are too small right now at about an inch long. Maybe after another 1/2" I can let them in. I think they will look great.

Emperors are my absolute favorite tetra. They are just beautiful when fully grown.

I have some Emperor Tetras and just love them. At least I think they are what you are talking about. These pictures do not do them justice. Their eyes are actually a beautiful green.

Can you tell from these pictures if they are true Emperors?? They are a beautiful fish.

I just purchased one of these last week. It was all alone in the tank and I loved the way it looked, especially the green eyes.

After seeing the real deal though I am a little disappointed they told me that these were emperor tetras when they really are not. Those purple ones look fantastic.

They really should be in a school. In an at least moderately planted species tank the colony can and will be self-supporting. They are not highly prolific, but enough to keep up or increase the numbers. Beautiful fish and they can make a beautiful tank.
