I have had several hang on fliters and I am just trying to see what others belive is the best or best for the price. The filters I have used are

Aqua Clear 300's-500's which I really like

Whisper's-Top Fin's Did good mabey not as good as the Aqua Clear

Marineland Hot 250's Liked alot but still I think the Aqua Clear Was better

Penguin Bio Wheels which I was not Impressed w/

I was wondering if anyone had used the Jebo 505 water falls and their impressions on them also what the cartrages are like and where you can buy them Thanks

I have used Aquaclears and Whispers. I like them both but I do like the size of the filter basket on the Aquaclears better. I have had a few times where after a power outage the AC didn't restart well but have never had that issue with my Whisper. My main tank has a canister filter but only because I got a great deal on it. I was planning on a new Aquaclear.

I have aquaclears on all my tanks but I dont like the AC 500. It seems like the plastic they used to make them is a too thin. The first one I got was cracked and I had to send it back. I feel like I have to baby it so that it doesnt break on me now. This is not the case with all the other AC ive used in the past. Maybe they have changed the design now that they no longer call them 500s.

I've had my AC500 running for 4yrs+ and never a problem with them, ever. They keep on going like the energizer bunny. And I also have had a Fluval 304 that has run side by side with my AC500 for the same amount of time, without a problem. Only once did an impeller break on my Fluval 304 but that was only due to my incompetence.

Yeah seems like everyone agrees ac are a great filter I have always used them in the past and have been out of aquariums for a few years, so I was just making sure there still top of the line. I am setting up a few new tanks and I guess I am gonna pick a few more up I have always like to run one hang on filter and one canister in each tank.

I just bought an aquaclear 110 to replace an Emperor 400.

What an incredible improvement over the Emperor. It's almost like having a canister filter with the huge media basket.

Good stuff!

My 29 gal aquarium will be happy too because I moved the Emperor 400 over to it and retired an aging Regent (walmart brand Penguin) 300 filter

I have several AQs and like them but they do not restart after a power outage. Even after cleaning the heck out of them.

I also have a Whisper mini on a 5 gal and love that one. I may go Whisper on the other tanks one day. I can see the AQs burning out if the power stays out for long and I'm at work...they need to fix that problem and they'd be perfect.
