I have had convics b4 and had sucessfully bred them however after 2 years a dises want round and took the pairs lives. Now I have new tank and 5 convicts male and female (i hope) should I turn the temp gradually up to 78 Degrees to encourage breeding. What other tricks can you do to encourage breeding. The females have their color but the males are fighting. How am i doing

how big is your tank, how old are the cons? to encourage breeding , good food, and water changes. Good luck

I would get rid of the smaller of the males you have and leave the stronger male to pair up w/ one of the females.
I have 2 convicts (male and female) which have bred many times. I found the most important thing is to make sure the female has some sort of cave / hiding place to lay her eggs.
