I "inherited" a Freckled Hawkfish from a friend and was looking for some information about these fish. From what I have read, my tank will eventually be too small for him...I have a 46 gallon. Right now he is about 2 inches, and I am wondering how long it will be before I need to find a larger tank for him. Any idea on fast these guys grow?
I love hawkfish but I understand freckled hawks are more of a bully than other hawkfish. If anyone has one and would like to share their experiences, I would be most appreciative!

First, welcome to AC :D
Here's a link that might help a bit, wetwebmedia has LOADS of information and articles (link is to a page on hawkfish in general). From their website:
"Forster's or Freckled Hawkfish, Paracirrhites forsteri (Schneider 1801). With a body marked by dark spots on the front half and horizontal bands on the rear. This species can be testy and eat goldfish near their full length of almost nine inches, so be careful when purchasing a larger one."
I don't have personal experience with these fish in my own tanks or at work, but know that hawkfish in general can be semi-agressive and will go after anything they can fit into their mouths. They really are fun though, there's nothing quite like them. :)
