alkalinity or dkh??

OK, subject says it all......:) What is the differance, if any, between alkalinity and dkh?? When I think alkalinity, I'm thinking PH, and when I'm thinking of dkh, I'm thinking of disoloved solids. I understand that the amout of disolved solids in the water will directly effect the buffering capacity of the water, so I'm sure they are tied in together any way, but if any one knows of a good article on the subject, please feel free to pass it on. TIA

Alk, DKH and General Hardness, Is all the same thing :)

here are some conversions..
To convert between alkalinity units:
1 dKH = 17.9 mg/l CaCO3
1 dKH = 0.358 meq/l
1 meq/l = 50 mg/l

KH is the same, not GH.

GH measurments are essentially meaning less in SW tanks.

Ah.... I tend to forget about Mr. Fener's site from time to time. Any time I want some good stero instruction syle reading, tis always a good place to start. :D Thanks.
