Hi, I have a piece of live rock that whenever I touch a certain part of it, I get all sorts of these bristles all over my hand and they don't come out for a while. Can you help me identify what it is?
Have you seen it? Unless you see something like the photos in my bristleworm post I doubt it is a worm. I've never handled mine, but I hear the itching is intense and only goes away quickly with a vinegar dip.

I'm pretty sure it's not a worm, since I've never seen it.

Maybe a glass sponge. They have sharp spicules that will lodge in your skin. Any sign of whitish sponges?

i see it all the time at my work certian pieces of live rock have sharp spines on them left from bristle worms or other creatures. (dont ever hold or touch a bristle worm) every tank has bristle worms (unless they caught & killed them) they are good for a system and as long as there is enugh waste for them to eat and your tank inhabitants are healthy they will be no hastle.
