I got a question about CF's. When the box/ad/whatever says:

55 Watt Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb This full spectrum light bulb will replace a 300 watt incandescent or halogen bulb.
Which do you use for the WPG? 55 or 300? I'm assuming 300 (which would mean have have around 5-6 WPG on my unplanted 12 Gal...15W that works like a 60).

As I said, I'm assuming, but I've never seen it clearly stated which figure to use. And I'm sure after a response I'm going to feel like an idiot, but right now it's like :look:

You would use the 55. The wpg is based on normal fluorescents. PC lights are actually a bit brighter than normal fluorescents.

You use Watts (power consumption) for every light in the calculation. PCF lights are also more effecient than Incandescent. IMO, they are more effecient than NO Fluorescents as well because of their ability to produce more lumens per watt - but that is a whole other controversy.
