My lady electrci yellow is overdue by 3 days to let go of the fries. :( I do not want to strip her. Which of these will be helpful in her releaseing the fries.

1- Should I feed her or not? I do not know if feeding her will help the fry to get out, or it jy-ust would steengthen her to hang on.

2- Should I put her in a net and alternatively take her in and out of water? This worked like a charm for a socolofi by accidnet.

3- Is there any other thing I should do short of stripping?

4- What is the most humane way of stripping her? If she hangs on for a couple more days.

thanks :)

How long has she been holding?

One of my female yellow labs spat 20 healthy fry yesterday after holding for 29 days.

Mine usually released fry by day 22 (including this particular female).

Without stripping, you could let nature take it's course (it'll be interesting to see how just long she can hold them then that number of days can be used as a future 'maximum' benchmark.

Or you could try inticing her with food, dropping 1mm pellets.

Is there anything in the tank she might consider a threat? I keep my 'maturnity tank' in a dimly-lit low traffic area with a bunch of floating plastic plants. If she doesn't sense the tank is safe she might retain them longer.

She might injure the fry if you try the net technique (I experience the same thing you did with a socolofi as well as I transferred her from the main tank, she released 3 fry in the net).

I wouldn't try to stress her as she's probably in a somewhat weakened state already.

I've never had to strip one of my female but I came close to considering it with this last one.
