Best fast growing low light plants

Aside from anacharis and hornwort ... which are the best?

These would be for a 5.5g with 15w lighting.

My betta loves to perch in floating plants, but anacharis doesn't do well with the Flourish Excel that other plants seem to love ... hornwort does better in my larger tank and doesn't drop needles as it did in the 5.5g.

Anything rooted that would grow a bit and give him a place towards the surface, or anything floating, would be awesome.

I was thinking of water sprite, but have read conflicting reports of its light requirements.

You could try Hygrophila polysperma or Rotala rotundifolia. I have some rotala growing in a very low light tank right now. It isn't red but does fine.

Floating plants like duckweed and water lettuce would work. Water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) is one of my favourites. Your betta will probably like the surface cover from it.
 
I have floating water sprite that my betta likes to rest in as well as the jave fern he lays on. Both do well low light although the java fern isn't actually a fast grower.
 
Thanks for the info! I really like the looks of the plants suggested, and will be making a purchase at the earliest opportunity. I was going to get some java fern for the 45g so now I have double the reason.
