Do you need a pump for your skimmer?

Water pump that is. If the skimmer is going to be placed in a sump do you need a water pump for it? Or do you use the return pump?

Mine (ASM G2) did not need a separate water pump... just the pump that drives the skimmer.

If I understand the question, then yes, you do need a dedicated pump. I suppose an airstone-driven pump can run from the return. Otherwise, you need a pump to apirate air and water together to form a foam.
