Hey guys,

The one thing i use to notice with my old tank was that it would make a humming sound. the sounds ofcourse came from my powerheads attached to the glass, which vibrated right down to the hardwood.

This time i plan on doing somthing about that, by possibly placing something between the tank bottom and stand to reduce any vibrations.

Any idea what kind of foam or rubber i should use and where can i get some for cheap??

I went to home depot, but all they had was styrafoam, which was to thick.

What about silicone? Check Target/Walmart in the kitchen section for silicone pot holders and mats. It's less than 1/4 inch thick, and you could cut it to size and use superglue to attach it to the power head.

They make these thick rubber pads (about an inch) thick for refrigerator vibration (I dont' know if you can put them between the tank and the stand but you could put them between the stand and the floor.) I think home depot has them, if not I've seen them in almost all the plumming/AC wholesale places.

huum, ya AC stores do carry those. I don't see why you couldn't put them between the tank and stand though???

Im sure with the weight, it will flatten out to some extent.

Thanks guys, will check out some places tomorrow.
