Ok this is in reply to my other post. If i did get a couple predatory fish that are only 2 inches long for my 55gal...how long will they last until i will have to upgrade? I wouldnt mind waiting a year or two and then transfering them into a 125gal.. could a small lion and small triggers or puffers last a year or 2 in a 55gal???

you could put one of those fish in there, but not any three of those together at the same time. the trigger and the puffer will find the lions fins way to tantalizing to not take a bite out of repeatidly. the trigger and puffer would be content to beat the heck out of each other. find a speices of either fish that you really enjoy and like and put it in. you can add some damsels or psuedochrimids as long as you have hiding spots for them to get away from the highly agressive fish. you could get at least a year out of all these species if not overfed and they are gotten at a small size.
there are species of "dwarf" lions that max out at around 6-8" that would be good for your tank and would not outgrow it. there are smaller puffers of the genus Canthagaster, commonly known as tobys or sharpnose puffers that stay around 5" as well. however the small triggers will still hit around a foot in length. with some getting much bigger.
