I've been looking to upgrade from a 29g freshwater (maybe go saltwater or LR in the new tank?) for a while now, finally have set aside money to do so, although not much.
Been checking the local Classifieds, local EBay auctions, local Want Ad's .. ect ... everyone is selling 75-90 gallon tanks with "misc equipment" (that they won't explain WHAT brands, ect "Ya know, it comes with like ... stuff ... for fish and stuff" - thanks, that helps alot.) for $500-2000
I've called local places ... I'm looking for a "DEAL" though. I'm the type of guy that finding something I want isn't good enough, I have to get a price that interests people as much as the item.
"Wow nice tank, probably cost you a fortune!" ... "Nope, I got it for a deal, only cost me ____" makes me feel good inside
ANYWAY ... no clue what I should be paying for a good setup (used or otherwise) but I called the only "real" LFS in my area I know of, and they informed me they're having a "MIDNIGHT MADNESS SALE" (Caps intended, the guy on the phone said it with a booming theatrical voice for some reason) tomorrow.
Hurray, sounds like deal-city!
They're supposedly even having representatives from some of the well known companies there. Sounds like a good plan to get something cheap, right?
So .. I grill him some, and he lets me in on the "deals" ... I asked him for LARGE tanks, none of the 10g Hex stuff .. I want 600+lbs of water straining my floorboards.
He gives me this:

They do have some deals on livestock, plants, a such (http://eddiesaqua.com/midmad06.htm) but nothing jumps out and really says "buy me" does it?
Maybe I should just go back to watching the Want Ad's. I've been hoping to get a tank ... 90 - 150 gallons .. for around $1 per gallon ... $2-3 per gallon if it comes with some nice equipment & a stand/cover/lights. Is that way too miserly of me?
Seriously ... people are asking $650 for a 55 gallon setup locally. One guy offered to let me come LOOK at his 75gal reef tank if I show up with 10% of his asking price in cash ... he wants $2000 for it. The guy doesn't understand that it hasn't sold in the 8 months its been listed for a REASON.
Anyway .. just venting, and checking if I'm waaaay off base on this one or not. ... and wondering if I should go hang out at my LFS on a Friday night from 6-Midnight ... they DID offer "many exciting door prizes" .. woohoo.
