Alright, so I have had my tank set up for about 2 months and working great. Coralife Super Skimmer was working awesome. Today I got my fish and decided that hey, maybe so Aquaclear will help a little. I put that in and all of the sudden my skimmer is shooting out bubbles like CRAZY. I can not get it to stop and I am guessing adding aquaclear was not a good idea. So now i have new fish in there, with no skimmer running. Just a little power 30 stirring up the water. Is my skimmer shot or... what can i do?

Hello Ryan,
I had the same issue, the problem with those products that claim to reduce chlorine and phosphates (Aquasafe, Aquaclear) is that they have an oily feauture, is like a slime coat to protect the fish, the problem is that the unused slime(oil) stays in the surface of the water where then it come in contact with the skimmer and is like if you were putting soap, it releases millions of tiny bubbles. My advise is, stop using those products, if you cannot invest right now in a RO/DI unit then go to your supermarket and buy distilled water.....but eventually you may have to go for the RO/DI unit especially if you ever want to invest in corals

So umm will it eventually leave or what can i do? Make water changes or what?
I dont want all those air bubbles in the tank witht he fish in there do i?

Waterchanges will help remove it, but it will eventually break down in 2-4 days.

Also i noticed that you PH is quite low and it should be around 8.1 to 8.3 might want to change that before you get corals and fish.

lol that is from my Freshwater tank, haven't had time to chage it since i went salty :P
