1. how do i calculate my gallons ?
i live in a country that doesnt use gallons .. i tried finding out how to ... but i am not very sure of it coz i keep getting different answers .. my tank is approximately 220 litres, 42 inches long, water depth is 17.5 inches and width of the tank is 18 inches .. i always have a headache wondering whether i can get fish coz im not very very sure of my gallons ... lol..

2. iodine
i currently have anemones, tubeworms and a tree coral ( if u read my thread on decorating my tank. you'd know tt i have problems with it)
do i still need to add iodine ? cause i read tt soft corals need them. and how much iodine do i add ? the bottle says 10 ml to 100 litres... but how often do i add it ? and any methods to add it ? can i just throw it into my return pump area ? the lfs wasnt very helpful when i asked so i need to check with you guys.

3. lighting.
i have 2 11w blue light bulbs. they are u-shaped. i want to use both along with my 2 24w white lights. but the lfs gave me 2 different shades of blue . one pure blue and one a little on the purplish side.. aside from looking weird ... can i use them together ? will my fish get wierded out.

ps. i know they might be silly questions ... but im very much a noob. and i started out on this tank quite badly ... so i need as much help as i can get. thanks everyone for your patience ! :help:

1. It's hard dealing with the last people on Earth who still use gallons, eh? 1 liter = 0.264 gallons. You can also multiply LXWXH and divide by 231.

2. The need to dose iodine is controversial. There are people like me who assume that enough gets in through food and water changes and don't dose it at all. Other people add iodine routinely, and one of them may be more helpful.

3. You can use the lights together. The purplish one sounds like an actinic, I don't know what the other is.

Although you should be ok to use the lights together that still isn't very much light for the Anemone (do you know what species) or the coral

Bubble tip anemones require around 4 watts per gallon and they are the low light ones, unless your talking about aptasia anemones these are considered pests and will thrive under your lights! Isn't that always the case Anemones you want to keep are so difficult to keep the ones you dont want are indestructable

question.

strange happening: my juvy spotted sweetlips was doing really well since i got him ... but after a while .. i realised that his rear fin was sorta shredded .. i thought tt he was being bullied so i observed the tank for quite a bit .. no one bothered him ... sadly after the next few days ... he disappeared and i couldnt find him ... then i was left with 5 fish.

the tank was peaceful for a while. till yesterday. i realised my coral beauty had the same problem... he didnt have that problem the day before ... i was caught up with school work so i didnt really have the time to observe him.. this morning ... i found him dead with his rear fin gone .. leaving only the muscle area.

is this some disease ? or is some unknown hitchiker attacking my fish ?
the other tankmates are a longnosed hawkfish, blue cheek goby, false percula, and dragon wrasse (juvy, he doesnt bother anyone .. just pigs out when its feeding time). i have a boxer and cleaner shrimp too.
