cleaning outside of tank

stupid question? is there any no-nos on what i can use to clean outside of tank? :duh:

Personally I dont spray anything around tanks...You can however spray some windex on some paper towel in another room and use it to wipe the front...

Is your tank acrylic or glass? If it is acrylic use a mild mixture of "windex" and a non-abrasive cloth. These can ruin the appearance and your view of the tank quickly, (scratch's, cloudy front). If it's glass clean all you want ,just be careful around the tank.

I though that using ammonia on acrylic was a no-no. I don't have acrylic tanks anymore, but when I did I never used ammonia-based cleaners. Was that an old wives tale I fell for?

MY APOLOGIE"S, You are right. What I should have said is a MILD MIXTURE OF WATER AND VINEGAR on acrylic tanks. Good thing you didn't just do it.SORRY !!

I use plain water or a water/vinegar mix.

Nothing gets sprayed in the room with the tank.
