Could someone tell me how many gallons a 30"long-18 1/2"-tall and 12 1/2" wide tank is? A friend gave it to me and said it was a 45gal but there's no way that is right?

Also after putting in the eco-comp, the sand part of the water, then some plant's I was filling it the rest of the way and SUPRISE it leaks!! What would be the best way to fix it?

Thank you!!!

Gin

The forumla for calculating a tanks capacity in gallons is:
L x W x H = then divide by 231

So 30 x 12.5 x 18.5 divided by 231 = 30 gallons :cool2:

Thanks for the replies!! I knew it wasn't big enough to be a 45 gallon, Oh well at least it's a little longer, it was free so I can't realy complain about it.

I was afraid of that...taking all that sand and eco-complete out is going to be FUN!! It stinks cause the last thing he said was "and it don't leak or anything" I knew I should of filled it first to check it out. Geuss you learn something from all experiences eh!

Thanks again,

Gin

I thought a 30 long was 36" long? Thats what they told me it was when I bought it anyway.

So then it's a 29 long then?

I don't think there is a 29 gallon "long" tank. It is actually, I believe, the same measurements as a 20 gallon long, except for the height.

I have only heard of a 29 gallon being just a 29 gallon. Neither 'long' nor 'tall' varieties. But I've never really looked into it.
