Do yall know the life cycle of sea pods? how long it takes to get a stable pod system? I just got some a couple weeks ago and some today. Thanks all.
Bobby
I'm not sure what you mean by "sea pods." "Pods" is a generic term for amphipods, copepods and isopods, and each of those groups is pretty diverse.
If you mean amphipods, the ones we commonly see are detritivores. The main thing they need is a sheltered place to hang out, and they will usually find food for themselves. Good shelters can be anything from rubble to chaetomorpha macroalgae to filter pads.
The isopods I have seen in my tanks are grazers. Give them a short carpet of algae and shelter from predation and they will be all over the place. I haven't seen them do as well where there are lots of snails and fish.
I have never had a large population of copepods, so I'll leave them for someone else.
