how did the other one die? It might be a swim bladder problem and so he can't turn his mouth to the surface to eat.

i took another good look at him and his head has turned red like from blood and he doens't look good at all. if it is ick i have some treatment but if it isn't i wouldn't want to add something to the water that would harm the other fish. sorry no pics. i don't know if he got cut by something. i don't think he did.:(

He died last night. Will it spread to my other fish? Do i need to do something to my tank? I am not sure what my water permeters are, i always go to the pet store to check all of that stuff they will do it for free, if there is something wrong they will tell me but there hasn't been anything wrong.

When you go to the store, you should get p.h, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate testing kits. It is important to have each of those. I know it's expensive, but this entire hobby is. ;)

A lot of people don't know what they are talking about. Just the other day, someone suggested to me that I go to a Petco that they go to because it had good fish. I went in, and half of the tanks had ich. After about 15 minutes of waiting, I asked the guy what the name of a certain plant was, and he told me that the store only had planted and non planted plants. Then I asked him if he had a certain fish, and he goes to a tank and points to the wrong one. It is a joke. Maybe I should start my own business. ;)

you should start your own business you would be good at it. i know what you mean, my brother has hermit crabs and he was looking at the ones in Petco and half of them were dead because they didn't have any humidity or water in the tank and he told the manager that a bunch of them were dead, and the manager said, "oh are they?" and he just walked away and didn't do anything about it. it is sad the way some people treat animals!

I am seriously thinking about writing a letter to the CEO of Petco telling him about all the bad things in the Petco stores.

like there are a lot of workers at petco who really don't know a thing but they act like they know about everything and they give people bad advice and all that. that really gets on my nerves.

I have one really great fish store in my area, so i do all my buying there....but i was in a petco a couple of weeks ago adopting some kittens, and i went into the aquattics section. After visitng, I realized that I would never buy ANY fish from that Petco. Many of their fish were dead, and I won't buy anything from a tank that has dead fish in it. I mean, there were chewed up fish bodies....ones that had obviously been there for days. they probably think that if a fish dies, its fish food or something...who knows.
