I just got a floating hydrometer do I leave the foam on it or take it off? Also how should I use it, I don't know why they don't make this stuff easy for people that are just getting into it. I've got a floating hydrometer and a regular hydrometer (extremely unreliable in my mind).
 
nevermind my dog knocked it off the table and you can guess what happened next.

drive to store - 5 dollars

floating hydrometer - 10.31

having the dog knock the hydrometer off the table and having the hydrometer last only 10 minutes out of the package - priceless
