What about a tetra themed tank-5 schools of tetras, something on the order of, 75 neons, 75 rummynose, 75 cardinals, 75 glowlights, 75 rasboras (not tetra but you get the point) and 25 cory's?

i was thinking of maybe some big fish like maybe some arowana. if i were to keep arowana how many could i keep? or do you guys think i should go with salt?

I saw a tank at the Honolulu aquarium this week that was beautiful. It was a discus tank stuffed full of cardinal tetras and rainbow fish (the long ones). It was beautiful. It was planted with a lot of sag, crypt, and java fern and some huge pieces of wood. It was one of the most beautiful fresh water fish I have ever seen. And if I were to get a big fresh water tank, that is what I would do.

I would go with one arowana in a tank that big. Many people will say you can put more in , but with arowana's you are better having one or a least 5 in a tank b/c of aggresion and I think 600g would be just a little too small for 5 fish. What the dimensions going to be and what are you thinking of making it out of?

Tiger Shovelnose, Red Tail Cat (very agressive very active), Polypterus(bichars), Sabre tooth tetras a.k.a. Sabre Tooth Characins (very rare, super cool eating methods) FW Baracuda, Gars....the possibilities are endless.

Personally if i had a tank that big i would put a shoal of about 20 piranha. You can do mixed Pygocentrus species...including Red Bellies, Piraya, Caribe(black heart). THat would be sweeeeeeeeeeet.

Good luck with whatever you wind up going with. I envy you. I myself have a 220g and that is enough work for me. I couldnt imagine a 600g. INSANE!

Hmm, well your tank might be big enough to house what I have in my 75g tank according to some ppl here ;) or my brackish and goldfish tanks for that matter

Hmm, also following the recomended water changes suggested atleast 50% weekly... I would probably have to get a second job to pay the water bill and probably have to install larger pipes in my plumbing. On a more serious note I would make sure the floor can handle that kinda weight! :hang:

Freshwater... dunno. Marine - maybe a shark and a big old puffer like at the lfs here.
