I have a 150 gallon marine FO tank and I use a XP3 & a XP2 on my aquarium. These are the best canister filters I have ever used, and are very easy to clean and maintain. The flow rates are great on these units, but make sure you have something else moving the water around besides one of these. I'm sure you already knew that. :dance2: I only use them for mechanical & chemical filtration.

Think overflow, with sump, that way you can have the best of both worlds. I can get my bucket, throw in the skimmer collection cup, sponges bags of carbon etc. no need to disassemble and reassemble. It also provides flexibility if in the future you want to get more technical.

Best filtration for a large SW setup is live rock with a good skimmer and a refugium.
I think a sump with crushed coral, skimmer, refugium, Live rock and a turnover rate of 50x per hour.

Kody1192: I guess you cant really have LR with a Ray tank so sounds like a good plan, you gonna use a skimmer?
What about a sump/fuge for LR and Sand?

Crown Royal's idea will work best to keep the nitrates down. I totally agree with him.

Not gonna work with FW kim, plus cant really do rock in the main tank with a SW ray as they need the sand space
