Ok, finally got my Fluval 304 & hooked it up over the weekend. My tetras & scissortails love swimming against the strong output.

I think it is pretty cool except the hoses. I thought they would be plastic hosing but instead they are ribbed & very stiff. Is there any way to replace them with the clear plastic hoses?

Also, when i do maintenance & open it up, will water spill out? Or when i lock the flow it'll be ok?

Thankx.

I took one of the tubes with me to Home Depot and bought clear tubing that matched the same size in diameter. I spent $5 for 10 feet of hose.

You shouldn't have to worry about spilling it. After you turn it off and move the aqua stop lever up it will stop the water flow. There might be a small slpash at the most. What I did though was I put a kitty litter pan under all my canisters for this reason or if I get a possible leak in the future.
