View Full Version : Eel wont eat HELP
I have an 18 inch golden tail moray,we have had it for about 8 weeks and I dont think it has eaten anything. I have tried silver sides, table shrimp, snow crab legs, formula 1 frozen cubes, all this on a feeding stick. Its posible that he may have gotten some of the food that fell off the stick but I doubt it. I did watch him eat the day I got him at the LFS he seems OK and the LFS guy said "DONT WORRY HE WILL EAT WHEN HE'S READY" I'm worried 2 months seems like a long time for such a large fish, THANKS ZEPP
I Have a snowflake that took 6 weeks off from eating once. Eels can go in to a sort of hibernation state where they wont eat for months so I wouldnt be too worried yet. My Eel eats shrimp from the supermarket as well as frozen shrimp and silversides. You could try goldfish, maybe he wants live food.
Good Luck

If you want to try live, pick up some ghost shrimp--much better option than goldfish. Goldfish are not a good choice for any marine animal. Ghost shrimp will survive in marine water for a while, and will be better for the eel.

I've never heard of an eel starving to death. He will more than likely eat when he gets ravenous.Keep us posted.
