Would it be ok to put driftwood in a 10 gallon tank? Someone told me it wouldnt.. Please let me know!! Thanks!

ok thank you!

small tanks are definitely less forgiving of changes in water chemistry than larger tanks and driftwood 'can' effect that chemistry in that if may add tannins to your water. these in turn 'can' lower the ph and gH slightly. thus, you need to be more careful ... but you can certainly add wood to your tank.

yeah just make sure you boil it for 20 minutes. Dump water and repeat about 6 times.

there are some wood species that you can boil for months and they'll still leach tannins into your water.

i put a nice piece of malaysian driftwood in my 10g and didn't have any problems. just keep an eye on your pH and do water changes to remove tannins and bring your pH back up.

i wouldn't risk it. you don't know where its been, what kind it is, what it might have soaked up in the lake (some lakes are pretty nasty) etc.
